On October 1, 1986, around 2:30 p.m., Albert Landry left his residence in Tracy with his automobile. Mr. Landry was an insurance broker for the company Dollard Lussier Ltée 1978 and was supposed to meet with clients.

On October 7, 1986, two people out for a walk found the victim on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Repentigny. Mr. Landry had been savagely beaten and left there.

The investigation revealed that the suspect(s) knew the victim.

Albert Landry led a double life between his family and the Montréal homosexual scene. He attended gay bars and had been an active member of the gay movement in downtown Montréal for a few years.
