Jean-Paul Durocher

On December 2, 1973, the body of Jean-Paul Durocher was found in a ditch along rang du Grand-Pré in the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu area. The day after the body was found, searches were conducted on a small road adjacent to the rang de la Coulée-des-Pères. It was there that the murder weapon was discovered.

The evening of December 1, Mr. Durocher was seen at the New Frontenac hotel; witnesses confirmed that he was present there until about 1:30 a.m.

Mr. Durocher acted as a usurer in the Saint-Jean area. He would lend money to various people, with some interest. He did not have a residence and lived in a room at the New Frontenac hotel.
