On October 29, 1991, 33-year-old Gérald Jasmin left his home in Sainte-Sophie in his all-terrain vehicle to go to the premises of a criminal group in the Sainte-Sophie area. Gérald Jasmin, alias "Japs", was never seen again and the investigation suggests that he was the victim of a homicide.
