On April 3, 1977, the body of Jean-Marc Lavergne, age 25, was found in the St-Maurice river under the Bernier creek bridge in Saint-Jean-des-Piles. His body showed signs of violence and he had been shot several times. Jean-Marc Lavergne was seen alive for the last time on November 13, 1976 when he was leaving the Bar l'Écluse in Shawinigan.
