On October 25, 1988, a hunter in the woods in the Pointe-de-Miguasha sector of the municipality of Nouvelle in the Gaspé Peninsula discovered the body of Linda Condo near a trail. Ms. Condo had been murdered.
Linda Condo, a First Nations woman and a mother, was from the community of Gesgapegiag. She was born on the reserve of Maria. At the time of the events, she had no fixed address.
She regularly traveled to the towns located between the municipalities of Paspébiac and Pointe-à-la-Croix, and to the Campbellton sector in New Brunswick, mostly by hitchhiking.
The investigation showed that she returned from the United States on October 8, 1988, and that, on October 10, she talked on the phone with a cousin. She was not seen alive again.
