On the morning of January 14, 2008, 46-year-old Pierre-Paul Robert left his home in Blainville in his dark grey Ford Explorer to meet 54-year-old Daniel Chaput at his home in Sainte-Adèle. They left around 12:30 p.m. to go to Val-David.

On January 21, 2008, Pierre-Paul Robert's vehicle was found in Sainte-Adèle. Pierre-Paul Robert and Daniel Chaput were never seen again. The investigation suggests that they were victims of a homicide.
