On the evening of August 4, 1972, Réal Picard, a doorman at Le Vicomte Hotel in Sherbrooke, spent the evening at the bar with a woman. When the bar closed, Réal Picard left the place with the woman in his red Chevrolet Impala.

On August 5, 1972, his vehicle was found damaged in the Knowlton region of the Eastern Townships. Réal Picard could not be found, traces of violence were observed on board the vehicle.

On July 31, 2000, during an excavation on a piece of land in Saint-Majorique in the Drummondville region, the body of Réal Picard was found buried. Mr. Picard was the victim of a murder.
